Endangered Northern Right Whales

The severely endangered Right Whale is a regular visitor to Massachusetts coastal waters. It is a slow moving animal that is prone to being involved in collisions with vessels. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has designated Cape Cod Bay and the region east of Cape Cod as Critical Habitat for this species, and has identified the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary as an additional area of importance to the Right Whale.  The Boston Pilots Association  serve on numerous committees and working groups and are committed to the protection and tracking of the Right Whale.
